ARTIST INFORMATION
Since art has always been a part of life, I possess a unique and motivated personality. I can remember the first time a teacher told me to take up art as a career; I had just completed a piece out of clay in fourth grade. After that point I surprisingly avoided clay, though experiencing just about every other art medium. I was accomplished in quite a few but not settled until I touched upon clay again, in college. 

As I look back I see a long journey of a complete circle, surrounding water, clay and air. I attended Michigan State University, receiving a BFA degree in Art Education and Ceramics. Immediately I set up a studio in northern Michigan where I successfully worked with clay for nine years. A small community, clean air and a body of water are needed to complete me and nourish my soul. Life soon interjected itself in the form of a child and the need for extra income. I returned to Detroit, renewing my degree I began to teach art in the public school. I continued on and received two Master degrees, one in Elementary Education and the other in Administration. I loved teaching children, but I was unhappy without clay, air and water. So I returned this time to Charlevoix, Michigan. I am currently the happy and productive owner of Gallery 704, where I sell my pottery and fifty other artists' work. I am active in the community, walk with my dog by water daily and work at home. Again, I am complete.

My pottery has always been about function. Inspired by the ancient artists, utilitarian and eye catching. I am constantly evolving as an artist. I see my confidence building as I now only use a porcelain clay body. Porcelain allows me to honor the true form of a vessel, thin and beautiful. Yearly I work to combine form, texture and color together to create individual and quality pieces. All of my pottery is fun, functional, ovenware, microwave and dishwasher safe.
